Boarding schools in Wales
The underrated Wild West
Wales has some highly recommendable boarding schools and is often cheaper than England. On the one hand, demand here is undeservedly low; on the other, Wales is often less well known than the classic boarding school regions in England. Yet with its historic architecture and beautiful Welsh countryside, Wales is at least as good a place for a wonderful stay.
Here are some of our partner boarding schools in Wales:
A traditional school in Wales
Christ College
Christ College can look back on an impressive history: the school was founded by Henry VIII in 1541. Parts of the historic campus date from the 13th century. The school is located in the small town of Brecon, right next to the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park. It is a traditional school, but it impresses not least with its exceptionally friendly atmosphere. The school has its own theatre and concert stage, very good facilities for art and photography and, of course, a wide range of sports with professional coaching.

Boarding school near the Brecon Beacons National Park
Llandovery College
Llandovery College was founded in 1847 as a school with a focus on the Welsh language and literature. Welsh is still offered as a subject today. The school is attractively located in the town of the same name near the Brecon Beacons National Park. The traditional house system and good tutorial support give everyday school life its structure and create a strong sense of community. The college played an important role in establishing rugby in Wales. The sport is still played at a very high level today, and the school is proud to have produced a number of international players.
